  Adults in Scouting

Structure :
Adults in Scouting is looked after by the International Division of Bangladesh Scouts. The division is headed by International Commissioner Mohammad Zainul Abedin who is assisted by his Deputy National Commissioner (International & AIS) Mohammad Golam Sattar.

Functions :
The major functions of the AIS section are as follows:
-        to uphold the Adult Resources Policy of Bangladesh Scouts as to effectively manage Adult Leaders in all functions.

-        to ensure that Adult Leaders in all functions receive quality training as per the training system of Bangladesh Scouts.

-        to prepare useful tools (materials) for the implementation of Bangladesh Scouts Adult Resources Policy.
-        to ensure that an and Adult Leader in Bangladesh Scouts enjoys his life cycle with desired support, so that he/she can contribute his best for the development of young people.

Achievements:
          After the World Adult Resources Policy was adopted in 1993 at the World Conference in Bangkok, Bangladesh Scouts started spadework for the development of its own Adult Resources Policy. The following events took place during the awareness stage:

-        AIS concept documents from the World Scout Bureau were translated and disseminated to top leaders, Commissioners, Trainers and every Unit Leaders.

-        Several seminars and workshops on AIS were organized at national and sub-national levels to educate key leaders on how to better manage adult leaders.

-        Bangladesh Scouts Adult Resources Management Committee was formed with the Chief National Commissioner as its chairman.

-        Bangladesh Scouts Adult Resources Policy has been approved in principle.

-        Adults in Scouting topic has been well incorporated in the syllabus of Unit Leader Advanced course, Commissioners Course, Course  for ALTs & LTs and Management course for Professional Scout Executive.

-        Several national and sub national level leaders have been specially trained in AIS Seminars/Workshops organized by the World Scout Bureau/Asia-Pacific Region in different coutries.

Task ahead:
          A review and evaluation workshop on the Bangladesh Scouts Adult Resources Policy is scheduled in September 2007. National Commissioners, Deputy National Commissioners and key leader from sub-national level branches are expected to attend this important event. The objective is to further strengthen the infrastructure as to fully implement the policy. Besides, a series of publication (Booklets, leaflets, pamphlets etc.) on recruitment, training, appraisal system, recognition and so on will be streamlined in this workshop.
